Direct electricity generation
Our technology converts heat directly into electricity without any mechanical moving parts that further decrease system efficiency.
High value and on-demand electricity generation
Energy storage is an extra investment in intermittent electricity generation applications, such as solar and wind power sources. On the other hand, our technology can store heat in the working electrolytes with low cost storage tanks. Therefore, our technology can be used on demand without expensive equipment to match electricity generation and consumption.
Lo-C emission
KDI-Voltera utilizes low-grade heat sources, which can be generated without incremental burning of fossil fuels and the corresponding carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere. It can efficiently convert heat from geothermal, solar and industrial waste sources.
Low cost and de-risked technology
- Electrolyte Composed of inexpensive iron/copper salts and water. It puts no oxidative stress on the system components and does not require high-resistance materials.
- Membranes Proprietary self-healing ion selective membranes that eliminate electrolyte crossover. These are made from low-cost commodity materials.
- Electrode Stacks These are also our proprietary micro-metrically thin bipolar composite electrodes made from commodity carbon powders and polymers.
- Heating Systems Our technology is based entirely on aqueous electrolytes with high heat transfer coefficients – no gas phase needed. For the heat exchange, we have developed proprietary Heat Exchangers.
